The need to know the word count of a document is relatively common. It could be because you’re a student who needs to meet a word count for an assignment, a writer who gets paid by the word, or various other reasons.

For PDFs, you can get the word count using your PDF editing software, depending on which one you’re using. If it’s not built in, you’ll need to convert the PDF to a Word doc or use an online service.

Use Foxit PDF Editor

Foxit PDF Editor is one of the few PDF editing tools that can provide the word count of a PDF directly within the app and with little effort.

  1. Launch Foxit PDF Editor and open the PDF you want to get the word count for.
  2. Next, click the View tab and then select Word Count.

The Word Count window will appear, giving you certain statistics about the PDF. Not only will you see the word count, but you’ll also get the number of characters, pages, and more.

Using Adobe Acrobat Reader? Convert to Word

Adobe Acrobat Reader is one of the most popular and widely used PDF editing tools. Even still, it doesn’t provide a way to get the word count of a PDF within the app. Instead, you’ll need to convert the PDF file to a Word doc, which Adobe can help you with.

  1. Open a browser of your choice and go to Adobe’s PDF to Word convertor on their official site.
  2. Upload the PDF file that you want to convert.
  3. Once uploaded, you’ll see a screen where you can confirm the document language and the document type you want to convert the PDF to. Click Convert to DOCX.

  1. Once the conversion is finished, click Open in Word in the header menu. You can also download the document if you want by clicking Download.

  1. With the document now open In Word, click the Review tab and select Word Count in the Proofing group.

The Word Count window will appear, showing the document’s word count and other statical information.

Use an Online Word Count Tool

If your PDF software allows you to copy the text in the PDF, you can use an online word count tool like WordCounter to quickly get the word count (and the character count, too). Copy the text, paste it into the editor, and voilà.

Don’t forget that this is an online service, though. Online tools are convenient and mostly free, but don’t forget to give privacy an additional thought before you plugin potentially sensitive information into the word counter tool. Ensure you’re using a reputable site that guarantees the confidentiality of your content.

Words to the Wise

There are a few different ways you can get the word count of a PDF document, each with its own set of advantages. Foxit PDF Editor stands out, though, by providing an in-app word count feature. Hopefully, one day Adobe will bring this feature to the table.

Hulu is a popular streaming service that lets subscribers watch their favorite shows from their web browser, smartphone, or streaming device. But just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s immune to playback issues — including the infamous closed captions sync issue.

In this guide, we’ll explain why your Hulu subtitles are out of sync and how to fix this frustrating glitch.

Hulu website open on laptop

Why Are Hulu Subtitles Out of Sync?

Over the last year, there’s been a widely reported subtitle issue where Hulu’s closed captions don’t sync with the video. This glitch doesn’t seem to be limited to a single streaming device either, with users reporting the problem on the Hulu app and website alike.

According to Hulu, if you’re experiencing the Hulu captions synchronization error, it’s because of a glitch that occurs when first loading the video. However, many users report that the glitch occurs frequently, indicating that it’s a more significant issue.

How to Fix Hulu Subtitles Out of Sync

Here are a few solutions that might fix the Hulu sync issue and improve your viewing experience. We’ve started with the simplest fixes, so start at the top and work your way down to the more complicated solutions.

1. Restart Hulu (and Your Streaming Device)

Hulu app open on phone

The first step, if you haven’t already tried it, is to restart Hulu and the device you’re using to stream TV shows. Often, a simple restart is enough to clear temporary glitches and get things working again.

If the issue persists after you reset the app, try loading a different video. The sync problem might be linked to the specific video that you’ve been trying to watch. In that case, you’ll likely have to wait for the Hulu team to fix it manually.

Note: Some users report being able to fix this issue by refreshing their web browser until the subtitles are in sync again. While it’s a clunky workaround, it might help fix your problem when you really need the subtitles to be synchronized.

2. Disable Closed Captions and Re-Enable Them

Hulu recommends disabling your closed captions and then enabling them again.

To disable subtitles on the Hulu app:

  1. Press the Up button or swipe up twice to access the settings menu.
  2. Select Off under Subtitles & Captions, then select On.

To disable subtitles on an Android or iPhone:

  1. Tap the Gear icon to open the subtitle settings menu.
  2. Under Subtitles & Captions, select Off then On.
Turn subtitles on off and then on again
  1. Tap the X icon to save this setting.

To disable subtitles on Hulu.com:

  1. Select the Settings icon to access the subtitle options.
  2. Press Subtitles & Audio.
  3. Choose a subtitle language, then press Off.
Disable subtitles on Hulu
  1. Select On.

Note: It may also be worth playing around with your device’s accessibility settings. These may be overriding the Hulu app in a way that interferes with the subtitles.

3. Check Your Internet Connection

Hulu claims that the subtitle synchronization issue is caused by a glitch when a user first loads the video. It’s possible that a poor internet connection can cause the video to load at a different speed than the subtitles, resulting in them becoming de-synchronized.

To find out whether your network is to blame, we recommend running a speed test. Hulu recommends at least 3 Mbps download speed for general movies, 8 Mbps for live TV, and 16 Mbps for 4K content. If your internet isn’t achieving these speeds, try reducing the video quality or troubleshooting your internet connection.

Speedtest.net results for connection

4. Switch to Another Streaming Device

Your streaming device may be the cause of Hulu’s out-of-sync subtitles. To check whether or not this is the case, try loading the same video on a different device. For example, if you usually use a Roku to stream Hulu, try loading the video on your smart TV or mobile device instead. If the subtitles are only out of sync on one device, you’ve found the problem.

5. Clear the Cache

Occasionally, cached files can become corrupted and cause issues with playback on the Hulu app or website. To fix these issues, you should clear the cache on your app or web browser.

To clear the Hulu cache on an Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Apps and locate Hulu.
  3. Tap Storage & cache and select Clear cache.
Manage storage and clear cache on Hulu app

To clear the Hulu cache on an iPhone:

  1. Open your device’s Settings app and select General > iPhone storage.
  2. Find the Hulu app and press Offload.
Offload app from iPhone

To clear your web browser’s cache, open the Settings menu, find History or Browsing data, and select Clear. Here’s how to clear the cache on every popular web browser.

5. Log Off and Sign In Again

Some users report that logging off and back in again helps reset Hulu’s closed captions. The process for logging out will depend on your streaming device, but it should be pretty simple. From the app’s home screen or the website, select the Settings menu, then select Log out. Then, restart the app or website and sign back in.

6. The “Skip Ahead” Workaround

If nothing else has worked, the “skip ahead” workaround might resolve your subtitle problem. This is a quick fix that seems to help some (but not all) users get their subtitles working properly:

  1. Start playback on your movie. Note where you are in the movie then skip ahead to a random part.
  2. Close the video and return to the show selection screen.
  3. Resume the same movie, then return the playback to the original starting point.
Skip ahead workaround to fix subtitles

In Sync Once Again

If none of these solutions are able to fix your synchronization problem, we recommend contacting Hulu support. While Hulu doesn’t seem to know exactly how to fix the subtitle sync issue, they might be able to point you in the right direction. And, the more people that report the issue, the more likely that they’ll put the effort in to fix it.

Disney Plus is the home of several huge TV and movie franchises that you might be fans of, including Star Wars to Marvel. However, Disney Plus error code 14 will stop you in your tracks.

Error code 14 on Disney+ is an error that will stop you from signing in. If you can’t sign in, you can’t watch your favorite content, so you’ll need to identify the cause and troubleshoot the problem. To resolve this error code, follow the steps below.

Disney logo

What Causes Disney Plus Error Code 14?

Error code 14 on Disney Plus is a login error. You’re most likely to see this error if you enter the wrong email or password for your account. For instance, this might happen after a recent password change.

After entering password, error is displayed

If you changed your password for other Disney services like Disney.com or ESPN+, you’ll also need to use the new password for Disney Plus. This is assuming that it was you who changed your password in the first place.

Check Your Details are Correct on the Disney Plus Website

The first thing you should do when you see error code 14 on Disney Plus is the most obvious: check that you’re using the correct email and password for your Disney Plus account.

To check your details are correct on the Disney Plus website, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Disney Plus website and press the Log In button.
  1. Enter your email and press Continue.
  1. Next, enter your password and press Log In.

If you can log in successfully, you know your details are correct. You can then reuse them in other Disney+ apps.

However, if you see an error message, you might have entered the wrong email or password. You’ll need to check your subscription is still active and, if necessary, reset your password using the steps below.

Reset Your Disney Plus Password

You’ll probably need to reset your password if you can’t sign in. Once you’ve restored access to your account, you should see the error disappear (unless there’s a deeper issue at fault).

To reset your Disney Plus password, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Disney Plus website in your web browser and press Log In.
  1. Enter your email address and press Continue.
  1. Next, press the Forgot Password? link below the password box.
  1. Wait for an email from Disney Plus to arrive to your account. Once it arrives, open it and note the 6-digit passcode.
  1. Return to the previous page and type the passcode into the provided box, then press Continue.
  1. Next, insert a new strong password in the boxes provided and press Continue to confirm your choice.
  1. When you’re done, sign in with your new account details on the Disney Plus website to see if error code 14 has been resolved.

Log Out of All Signed In Disney Plus Apps

Depending on your subscription and locale, you can only sign in and stream on a limited number of devices on Disney Plus. If you reach this limit, you might see errors like error code 14 appear on Disney Plus to stop you from using the service.

If this happens, it might be time to log out of your existing devices. You can then sign in, one by one, into Disney Plus on the devices you want to use. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Launch the Disney Plus website in your web browser and press Log In.
  1. If you can do so, sign in using your username and password. If you can’t, you’ll need to reset your password by following the steps in the section above, choosing the Log out of all devices option at the final step.
  1. If you can sign in, press the profile icon in the top-right and select Account.
  1. Underneath your email and password at the top, press the Log out of all devices link.
  1. If prompted, confirm your choice by typing in your password and pressing Log Out.

Once you’ve signed out, you must sign in again on all devices using your Disney Plus account details. The problem with error code 14 on Disney Plus should (hopefully) be resolved.

Reinstall the Disney Plus App

If you’re using an older version of the Disney Plus app but updating the app hasn’t fixed the problem with error code 14, remove and reinstall it.

Android users can visit the Disney+ app in the Google Play Store to do this. Tap Uninstall to remove the app, wait for the process to complete, then tap Install to install it again. Launch the app afterward—you’ll need to sign in again.

iPhone users have different instructions to follow. Tap and hold the Disney+ icon on your home screen before tapping Remove App to remove it.

Next, visit the Disney+ app page in the App Store before tapping the Install icon to install the app again. Once installed, sign in using your account details.

On Windows and macOS, you can clear your browser cache as an alternative. This will ensure you load the latest version of the website, but like mobile users, you’ll need to sign in again afterward.

Try Another Streaming Device:

If you’re still seeing Disney Plus error code 14 appear, it could be a problem local to your device. If that’s the case, it’s worth trying another streaming device to rule this out (and to fix the problem).

Disney Plus is supported on several devices, including smart home devices like Apple TV and Roku. It’s also supported on Android, iPhone, and iPad devices and from your web browser on your PC or Mac.

If at least one device signs in using your account details, then the details aren’t at fault—it’s the app or the device you’re using. You’ll need to reinstall the app, check your internet connection, and switch to another device entirely to start streaming again.

Check Your Disney Plus Subscription Is Active

Reset your password, but still seeing error code 14 on Disney Plus? If so, you should check that your subscription is still active and valid. You can only do this if you’ve been able to sign in by resetting your password.

To check your Disney Plus subscription is active, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Disney Plus website and press Log In.
  1. Sign in using your username and new password.
  1. Once you’ve logged in, press your profile icon in the top-right and select Account.
  1. If you have an active subscription, it will be listed under Subscription. Tap it for more details about your subscription (including your billing dates). If your subscription is expired or canceled, you’ll need to renew it or sign up again for Disney Plus to begin working again.

Contact Disney Plus For Support

Still seeing error code 14 on Disney Plus, no matter what you try? You might need to contact Disney for additional support, as it could be a deeper problem with your account.

You can speak to Disney Plus via the Help Center area of the website.

  1. Open the Disney Plus Help Center website.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press Get in touch in the Contact us section.
  1. Choose a topic for the cause of the problem. In this instance, select either Error Codes or Fix a problem.
  1. Scroll past the list of articles and choose Chat with an advisor to speak to someone in a live chat or Call Disney+ to speak to someone by telephone. If other options are available in your locale, choose between those options instead.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Once you contact Disney Plus representatives, explain the problem and mention error code 14. If an account issue or unusual problem is at fault, they can help you resolve it.

Fixing Disney Plus Error Codes

It may be annoying, but Disney Plus error code 14 is a common login error you can usually fix by following the steps above.

If Disney Plus still isn’t working, you might need to consider further troubleshooting steps. For instance, services like Disney will often block VPNs, so you may need to disconnect from your VPN service on your device.

Running too many apps on your Amazon Fire TV will affect the streaming device’s performance. If your Fire TV freezes or runs slowly, closing some applications will speed up its performance. Closing an unresponsive or malfunctioning application can also get it working correctly again.

Unlike Apple TV and other high-end streaming devices, Fire TV devices don’t have an app switcher where you can view and close background applications. You can only force-stop applications in the settings menu or via third-party “task killer” apps. This tutorial covers step-by-step instructions for force-closing applications on Amazon Fire TV devices.

Note: The instructions and recommendations in this tutorial apply to all Amazon Fire TV models—Fire TV Stick, Firestick Lite, etc.

How to (Force) Close Apps on Your Fire TV

You should only force-close an application when it’s glitching, unresponsive, or affecting your Fire TV’s performance.

  1. Select the Settings/Gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen and choose Applications.

Close Apps for Glitch-Free Streaming

Closing unneeded background apps on your Fire TV has several benefits. First, it frees up memory for essential applications to run smoothly. Force-stopping and reopening streaming applications like Netflix can also fix buffering issues if you have a high-speed connection.

If an application keeps glitching after force-stopping it, update the app and reboot your Fire TV. You should also clear the app’s cache and update your Fire TV’s software. Uninstall and reinstall the application, or contact the developer if the issue persists.

Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular streaming devices, helping people give older TVs some of the functions of smart TVs. But what do you do if it starts playing up? If you’re wondering, “Why is my Fire TV Stick so slow?” you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, we’ll explain the 10 best fixes to get your Fire TV Stick running like normal again.

Why Your Fire TV Stick Is Freezing or Buffering

There are several potential reasons your Fire Stick has issues, including:

  1. A bad internet connection. If your Wi-Fi signal isn’t sufficient, or your home network is experiencing issues (like too many devices being connected), your device will struggle to stream movies. You need at least 5 Mbps to stream full HD video from the internet — so make sure it’s up to speed.
  2. Streaming service problems. If your network connection is fine, the fault might lie with your streaming service. The service might be down for maintenance, or their servers might be congested due to unexpected surges in web traffic. You can determine whether this is the case by heading to a site like Down Detector.
  3. Hardware issues. If neither your network nor streaming service are to blame, your Fire TV Stick itself might be causing the problems. For example, you may have too many apps running, or your Fire TV Stick might require a new update. Likewise, you may have a faulty power adapter or HDMI cord.

It’s worth trying to narrow down the problem from these common reasons so that you know how to fix it. Below, we’ll cover 10 fixes for Fire TV devices, starting with the simplest, most likely solutions.

How to Fix Slow Fire TV Devices

Usually, getting your Fire TV Stick working again is fairly easy — here’s what to do:

1. Restart Your Fire TV Stick

Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons for five seconds, and your Fire TV Stick should reboot. Once it does, check to see whether or not it’s working properly.

2. Check Your Cables

Make sure you’re using the correct power adapter and HDMI cable provided by Amazon. These will ensure the best performance from your Fire TV Stick. Also, double-check that both cables are connected properly, and there’s no fraying or damage.

3. Check (and Fix) Your Internet Connection

If your internet is causing your Fire TV Stick to slow down, it should be an easy fix.

  1. First, restart your router by unplugging it from its power source and then plug it back in. This will ensure that everything’s working properly.
  2. Next, check that you’re getting the required speeds by heading to Speed Test by Ookla and pressing Go. If you have slow internet, check out our complete guide on troubleshooting internet connectivity problems. If your internet speeds are fine, it might be your Wi-Fi connection at fault.
Internet speed test from speediest.net with results
  1. To troubleshoot the Wi-Fi connection, you need to find out your signal strength. From the Fire TV Stick home screen, select Settings, then Network. Choose your Wi-Fi network then check the signal strength. Ideally, it should be Good or Very Good. If the Wi-Fi signal is poor, try moving your device closer to the router or connecting your Fire TV Stick with an ethernet adapter. If all else fails, check out our complete Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide.

Note: Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) might throttle your internet connection during peak hours. If this is the case, you might experience buffering during that time. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about this, but wait.

4. Turn Off Your VPN

Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) can negatively affect your internet speeds. Streaming services also often prevent users from accessing their networks using a VPN. If you use a VPN, either of these things could be causing your Fire TV device to play up.

Try turning your VPN off and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you might need to consider turning it off every time you stream, or you may need to give another VPN a go.

5. Clear Data and Cache

When you use the Fire TV Stick a lot, it accumulates temporary files in its cache. Occasionally, something goes wrong and one of these files becomes corrupted, causing the device to slow down significantly. To avoid this and make your Fire TV Stick speed up, you just need a clear cache.

Here’s how to clear your cache:

  1. Press and hold the Home button on the Fire TV Stick remote to go to the home screen.
  2. Open Settings.
Click on gear icon at upper left corner on Fire TV home page
  1. Select Applications.
Click on Applications on Fire TV screen
  1. Choose Manage Installed Applications.
  2. Select the app you want to clear the cache for, then select Clear data and Clear cache.
Manage installed applications and clear data and clear cache
  1. Choose Confirm.
  2. Repeat for each app installed on your device.

6. Force Stop Background Apps

If you leave several processes and apps running in the background of your Fire TV Stick, they may be causing it to freeze and buffer more. To fix this, simply close the apps you aren’t using:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Go to Applications then Manage Installed Applications.
  3. Here, you’ll see all the apps that are currently running. Select the app and choose Force Stop to stop it from running in the background.
Managed installed applications and select Force stop

7. Uninstall Unused Apps

If you have installed apps on your Fire TV Stick that you no longer use, we recommend uninstalling them. This will help clear up storage space on your Fire TV Stick and ensure that it’s running as smoothly as possible. Usually, uninstalling old apps is the best way to prevent your Fire TV Stick from overheating.

To do so:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Go to Applications then Manage Installed Applications.
  3. Here, you’ll see all of your installed apps. Select the app and choose Uninstall. Wait for the process to complete, then repeat for all other apps you want to remove.
Managed installed applications and click on Uninstall

8. Update Your Fire OS to the Latest Version

If you’ve had your Fire TV Stick for a while, there’s a chance that it needs a software or firmware update. Often, these updates include patches that fix common glitches and performance issues, as well as security patches that can protect your device from malware.

To update your Fire TV Stick:

  1. Press Settings.
  2. Choose My Fire TV.
My Fire TV button on the home page
  1. Select About.
  2. Select Install Update if one is available.

Note: You should also make sure your streaming apps are updated. Your Fire TV Stick should do this by default, but just in case, head to Settings > Applications > App Store. Ensure Automatic Updates is toggled on, then reboot your Fire TV Stick.

9. Turn Off Data Monitoring (and Other Settings)

The Fire TV Stick’s data monitoring feature helps to ensure that you don’t exceed your data allowance. However, to collect app usage data, your Fire TV Stick must use a small amount of system resources. This can cause Fire TV Stick devices to slow down even more.

To turn off data monitoring:

  1. Press Settings.
  2. Choose Preferences.

Spotify often displays the Login Failed error 409 when you’re trying to log into the desktop app. But it can also happen on Android and iOS devices. Although Spotify is a famous music streaming service, with millions of users around the globe, errors and bugs are unavoidable. If you experience the 409 error while using Spotify on your PC or mobile phone, don’t panic. There are several things you could do to fix it, and we’re here to help.

What Causes the Spotify Error 409?

Error 409 is most commonly caused by a conflict with your account or a Spotify server. That said, it can also be caused by the following reasons:

  • Using an incorrect password when updating your Spotify account.
  • Trying to update your Spotify account with an email that’s already in use by another account.
  • Creating a new account with an already registered email.
  • Corrupted registry entries and files.
  • Outdated operating system on your device.

Now let’s see what you can do to attempt to fix the Spotify error code 409.

1. Check Your Spotify Login Details for Mistakes

The most common reason why Spotify users experience Error 409 when trying to log in is that they’re using incorrect login credentials. To remedy this, simply try logging in again, but be mindful of what you’re typing. The smallest mistake in the email or password could trigger the error.

Make sure that the caps lock is off and that all the keys on your keyboard are working correctly. If you’re having trouble remembering the password, you can try resetting it and using a new one to log into Spotify.

Finally, if you’re able to log in to the web version of Spotify but can’t log into the app with the same credentials, the problem might be with your device. If this is the case, continue reading.

2. Restart Your Device

If your login issue persists, it could be a sign that your device is experiencing a glitch. A simple restart takes care of all minor glitches on smartphones. So go ahead and try turning your device off and on again.

To restart the iPhone X or later versions, press and hold the Volume Up + Side button or Volume Down + Side button. When a slider appears on the screen, drag it to turn off your iPhone. To turn it on again, press and hold the side button.

If you’re using an Android, press and hold the Power button and select restart.

When your smartphone turns on, try launching the Spotify app and logging into your account.

3. Update the Spotify App

Sometimes, it’s the Spotify app that causes Error 409 to pop up. You can fix this issue if you simply update Spotify to the latest app version.

On an iPhone:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Access the Updates by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.

4. Reset the Spotify App on Windows

If you’re experiencing login error 409 on your Spotify desktop app, you could try resetting the app and see if this fixes the issue. Windows allows users to reset all the apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Type Installed apps in your Windows search bar to access them.

Resetting the Spotify app will get rid of all the cache files, including the login information.

5. Clear Spotify App Cache

Corrupted files in the Spotify cache folder can cause the login error 409. Since the cache files are temporary data generated by the apps to reduce their load time, the apps can work just fine without them. They’ll just generate the new cache data the next time you run them.

This section will teach you how to clear the cache on iOS, Android, and Windows operating systems.

Clear Cache on iOS Devices

Unfortunately, there’s no direct way to clear the app cache on iOS devices. You’ll have to do it through the Settings app because you won’t be able to navigate to the Spotify settings due to error 409.

  1. Open the Settings app from the home screen and tap General.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Scroll down to the bottom and tap iPhone Storage.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Find Spotify in the list of installed apps and tap on it to reveal more options.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Tap Offload App.

Launch Spotify and try to log in to see if you’ll encounter the 409 error.

Clear Cache on Windows

Although you can clear Spotify cache through the Reset app method, you can also do it manually on a Windows PC. Here’s how:

  1. Type Run in the start menu search bar.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to open the Run Window.
  2. Type appdata and hit Enter or click the OK button. This will open the appdata folder.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Double-click the Local folder to open it. Find and delete the Spotify folder.from there.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. If you can’t find the Spotify folder you’ll have to do some digging. Go to Packages > SpotifyAB.SpotifyMusic_zpdnekdrzrea0 > LocalCache > Spotify > Data. Then delete all the folders within the Data folder.
How to Fix Spotify

Launch Spotify and try logging in with your account credentials to see if this fixed the issue.

6. Reinstall the Spotify App

If updating the Spotify app on your smartphone didn’t help with the issue, nor did deleting the cache files, the problem might be in its core files. If this is the case, the only way to get rid of error 409 is to completely remove the app from your device, and install it again. That way, all the core files will be removed.

Reinstall Spotify on iOS

  1. Launch Settings, and go to General.

7. Update Your Device’s Operating System

Sometimes, it could be that a bug in your device’s operating system is causing the Spotify login error 409. If that’s the case, you can try fixing the issue by updating the OS to the latest version. New versions of OS come with the fixes for the known bugs and typically fix the issues with the apps you might be experiencing.

Update iOS

  1. Go to Settings and then select General.

  1. Select Check for Updates.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. If any updates are available install them by clicking Install Now button.

8. Check the Firewall Settings on Windows

A firewall sometimes prevents some of the services from functioning properly. It could be causing Spotify Error 409. Try turning the firewall off to see if this will allow Spotify to work without interference. You can also set Spotify as one of the allowed Firewall apps so that the software won’t block Spotify anymore. Here’s how:

  1. Launch Control Panel on your Windows PC.
  2. Select System and Security.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Under the Windows Defender Firewall option click Allow an app through Windows Firewall.
How to Fix Spotify
  1. Click the Change Settings in the upper right corner, then find Spotify on the list of apps and tick the box next to it. Select the OK button at the bottom of the screen to apply changes.
How to Fix Spotify

9. Disable the VPN on Your Device

Finally, if you tried all of the above and none of the offered solutions worked for you, check if you are currently using a VPN service. Due to the nature of VPNs, they can prevent some apps from communicating with Spotify’s servers. The result would be the login fail error 409. Try disabling your VPN to see if this fixed the issue.

Tackling the Spotify “Login Failed” Error 409 can be a head-scratcher, so make your way through our troubleshooting guide to find the solution. By addressing common culprits like login credentials, network configurations, and app updates, you’re now equipped with a comprehensive toolkit to troubleshoot and bid farewell to pesky error messages.

If you’ve ever found yourself squinting at your Photoshop canvas, trying to get those intricate details just right, or zoomed in so close that you can practically see individual pixels, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll teach you how to zoom in and out in Photoshop, helping you master this fundamental skill that’s key to precise image editing on Photoshop.

But there’s more than one way to zoom in or out in Photoshop. You’ll have to choose the zoom option that will fit your workflow the best.

1. The Zoom Tool

Using the zoom tool is the default way of zooming in and out in Adobe Photoshop. You’ll just have to use the magnifying glass icon near the bottom of the toolbox on the left side of the Photoshop screen.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 2

When you select the zoom tool, your cursor changes into a magnifying glass with a + sign. Use it to click anywhere on your image to zoom in. If you want to zoom out, simply hold the Alt key (Windows) or Option (Mac) on your keyboard and click on the image. You’ll also notice that the plus sign inside your cursor changed into a minus sign.

The keyboard shortcut for activating the magnifying glass icon is the letter Z on your keyboard.

You also don’t have to click on the image each time you want to zoom in or out. There’s an Animated Zoom option that turns zooming in or out into a continuous feature. But first, you’ll have to enable this feature. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Edit in the menu bar at the top ribbon.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 3
  1. Hover over Preferences in the drop-down menu, and select Tools from the sub-menu that’ll show up.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 4
  1. Tick the checkbox next to the Animated Zoom.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 5

Now, you don’t have to click to magnify your image each time. Simply click once and hold until you reach the magnification percentage that you need. However, not all graphics cards will support the Animated Zoom feature. Check if your PC’s graphics card is compatible with the Photoshop version you’re running.

Another way to omit clicking each time to magnify or reduce the image size on your Photoshop screen is to enable the Scrubby Zoom option in the Zoom Tool’s options bar at the top, just under the ribbon. These options will be available only while the Zoom Tool is active. Simply click the checkbox next to Scrubby Zoom to zoom in and out by holding the mouse and dragging it right or left.

2. Using the Keyboard Shortcut

Using Photoshop’s keyboard shortcuts is the quickest way to zoom in or out on your image or canvas. Press CTRL and + (Windows) or Command and + (Mac) to zoom in. If you want to zoom out, press CTRL and or Command and.

If you hit CTRL + 0 or Command + 0 on your keyboard, your image will automatically fit on the screen, whether it means zooming in or out.

3. Zoom with the Scroll Wheel on Your Mouse

Another quick way of zooming in and out is using the scroll wheel on your mouse. To enable this feature, you’ll have to:

  1. Go to Edit in the ribbon.
  2. Hover over Preferences and select Tools in the sub-menu.
  3. Tick the checkbox next to Zoom With Scroll Wheel.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 7

4. Scrubby Zoom With the Move Tool

If you’re using the Move tool and need to access Zoom quickly, you can use the Scrubby Zoom feature.

Select the move tool from the left toolbox of your main Photoshop window. Alternatively, hit the V on your keyboard to access it.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 8

While the Move tool is active, you can hold down Spacebar + CTRL (Windows) or Spacebar + Command (macOS), then click and drag the image to zoom in or out. Dragging to the right zooms in, while dragging to the left zooms out the image or canvas.

That way, you don’t have to change the Move tool into a Zoom tool, especially if you know you’ll have to switch between the two often.

6. The 100% Zoom View

Whenever you want to get the most accurate view of an image, you should look at it at 100% zoom. That’s because, at 100%, one monitor pixel will display one image pixel. To quickly jump to 100% view you can select it from the View menu on the ribbon. Simply choose the 100% option from the drop-down menu.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 9

If you want a quick way to jump to the 100% View, you can do it with the keyboard shortcut. Simply press CTRL + 1 on Windows or Command + 1 on macOS.

Viewing an image at 100% is the only way to get the most accurate view. You’ll be able to see all the details in the picture. Of course, you can zoom in even past 100%, but you won’t see more details because the image will be too pixelated.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 10

Viewing an image or a picture at 100% is especially significant if you’re sharpening it. This lets you easily see when sharpening effects affect the image’s details.

7. Navigator Panel

You can also use the Navigator Panel to Zoom in or out of your image or canvas in Photoshop. You’ll find the Navigator Panel on the right side of the Photoshop screen by selecting the icon that looks like a ship steering wheel.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 11

If you don’t see the Navigator Panel in the right-side menu, you’ll need to enable it. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Window option in the ribbon.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 12
  1. Select Navigator from the drop-down menu.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 13

Once you’re in Navigator Panel, you can click the big mountains icon to zoom in, and the small ones to zoom out. You can also click and drag the slider between the mountain icons to zoom in and out.

How to Navigate the Image While Using the Zoom Tool

When you zoom in on an image, you’ll notice you can’t see all of it at once. That’s where panning and scrolling the image gets useful. There are several ways to navigate your zoomed-in image. Let’s take a look at what options you have and how to use them.

The Hand Tool

The Photoshop Hand Tool is typically used to pan the image from one area to another. The Hand tool is in the Toolbar just above the Zoom Tool.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 15

Once the Hand Tool is active, your cursor will change into a hand icon. To grab the image simply click it, and while holding the mouse button down, drag the image around. This will allow you to inspect different areas of the zoomed-in photo. To let go, you need only to release the mouse button.

Although the Hand Tool is easily accessible from the Toolbar on the left side of the Photoshop screen, switching between the Zoom and Hand tool can get annoying. Instead, there’s a quicker way to temporarily access the Hand Tool while the Zoom Tool is active. Simply press and hold the space bar on your keyboard. This will turn your cursor into a hand, which you can use to move your zoomed-in image around.

Flick Panning

Flick Panning is not a feature in itself. You can observe it as part of the Hand Tool feature. When you’re in the middle of a drag, you can release the mouse button and toss your image in any direction. It will keep moving and gradually come to a halt. But you can also stop it manually by clicking on the image again.

However, you might need to enable the Flick Panning in your Photoshop. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Edit option on the ribbon, and hover your mouse over Preferences.
  2. Select Tools from the sub-menu.
  3. Enable Flick Panning by checking the corresponding box, and clicking the OK button to close the dialog box.
How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 16

Panning With the Scroll Bars

When you zoom in on an image, you’ll notice a scroll bar on the right side. Use it to pan up or down.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 17

There’s another scroll bar along the bottom edge of your Photoshop window. Use it to scroll left or right.

How to Zoom (In and Out) in Photoshop image 18

Panning With the Mouse Wheel

You can also use your mouse scroll wheel to pan the zoomed-in image up, down, or sideways. You don’t have to use the hand tool when you are panning with the scroll wheel. You can use any of the many Photoshop’s tools.

Scrolling the wheel up moves the image up. Scrolling it down moves the image down. But if you want to pan to the right or left, you must hold the CTRL key on Windows or the Command Key on Mac keyboards. While holding the CTRL or Command, scroll the wheel up to pan the image to the left and scroll down to pan the image to the right.

If you need to alternate between panning and zooming with the mouse scroll wheel, you can do it simply by changing the keyboard buttons you’re holding. Use the Alt or Option key on your keyboard to zoom in and out, and CTRL or Command to pan the image.

And that’s it! You now know all the basics of zooming in and out in Photoshop, and you can navigate faster with the panning tools. Photoshop is a complex tool with a bit of a learning curve, so start getting in the habit of using keyboard shortcuts or key + mouse scroll combinations to speed up your workflow.

Spotify has plenty of songs, artists, and podcasts to choose from, but perhaps you fancy a change in mood, or you’ve just found a song you don’t like.

That’s why you should manage your Spotify queue. Your Spotify queue is a list of songs and podcasts scheduled to play next. You can add items to your queue but, more importantly, you can clear your Spotify queue to help you start over with a fresh list of items to play.

If you want to know how to clear your Spotify queue, follow the steps below.

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 1

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue on a PC or Mac

You can easily clear all of the scheduled songs or podcasts in your Spotify queue using the desktop app or web player. The steps are the same for both Spotify clients, so to clear your Spotify queue on a PC or Mac, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Spotify app or web player and sign in.
  2. Click the queue icon in the bottom-right corner. The icon has three horizontal lines, with a larger line at the top.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 2
  1. To remove an individual item from the queue, press the three-dot menu icon next to the item and press Remove from queue. This will leave the other items intact.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 3
  1. To clear all of the items from your Spotify queue, press the Clear queue button.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 4
  1. You’ll be asked to confirm your choice if you’re using the web player—press Yes in the pop-up box to confirm.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 5

Once you’ve cleared your entire Spotify queue, you can’t turn back—you’ll need to re-add the items or add new ones. This won’t affect any playlists you’ve previously created, so you can always open up your playlist and start playing it to restore those items to your queue instead.

How to Clear Your Spotify Queue on Android

You can also clear your Spotify queue if you prefer to use the mobile app on Android, iPhone, or iPad devices. The interface is very similar on all platforms, and the steps to clear your queue are identical.

Like the Spotify desktop and web apps, you can remove individual items from your queue, or clear the entire Spotify queue in one go. To clear your Spotify queue on Android, iPhone, or iPad, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Spotify app and sign in.
  2. Play a song or podcast, making sure the album art and playback controls are visible on the screen.
  3. Tap the queue icon in the bottom-right corner (the icon with three horizontal lines).
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 6
  1. Tap the circle icon next to each song or podcast that you want to remove to select them.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 7
  1. When you’re ready to clear them from your queue, tap the Remove button in the bottom-left corner.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 8
  1. To clear all of the items from your queue, tap Clear queue in the top-right corner and wait a few seconds for the items to clear.
How to Clear Your Spotify Queue image 9

As with PC and Mac users, removing items from your Spotify queue isn’t reversible. You’ll need to start playing content on Spotify again to restore items to your queue.

Managing Your Spotify Queue

Clearing your Spotify queue is a simple way to change what you’re listening to—just clear the items and start playing new ones. It isn’t a permanent change, as Spotify is designed to allow you to switch between the things you want to listen to when you want to listen to them.

Want to have some fun with Spotify? You can switch to Spotify karaoke mode to sing along with your friends. If you’re worried about the cost, you could think about Spotify Duo, a subscription for two people to help make it more affordable (or switch to Spotify’s free plan instead).

If you want to delete your order history from Amazon, it can be difficult. We’ll explain the steps you’ll need to take to deal with your Amazon order history below.

Deleting Order History from Amazon: All You Need to Know image 1

Can You Delete Your Order History on Amazon?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to delete your order history on Amazon. Amazon doesn’t allow you to completely delete your order history, as it keeps a record of everything you’ve ever bought from the site. This includes any orders that you’ve cancelled or previously returned to Amazon.

However, some workarounds can help you hide your Amazon orders from prying eyes. The best method is to archive your orders instead, which hides them from view (but doesn’t delete them). You can also try other methods, such as using an Amazon household account or even deleting your account.

How to Archive Your Amazon Orders

As we’ve mentioned, the best method for deleting your order history isn’t deleting them at all—it’s archiving them. Archiving an order doesn’t delete it, but it moves it to a separate page that remains less visible, but still accessible. You can archive up to 500 orders per account.

Because the items are only hidden, it isn’t a foolproof method, as anyone who knows how to access the archived orders page can still see them. If you bought something that you don’t want others who share your account to see, archiving it might not be enough to stop them seeing it.

However, if you want to archive your Amazon order, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Amazon website in your web browser on your PC or Mac and sign in.
  2. Press Returns & Orders in the top-right corner.

  1. Find the order you want to hide in your order list.
  2. Press Archive order in the bottom-left corner of the order box.

  1. Confirm that you want to archive the order by pressing the Archive order button again in the pop-up window.

  1. The order will disappear from your main order history page and move to the archived orders page. To access this page, select Account & Lists > Your Account.

  1. Next, scroll to the Ordering and shopping preferences section and press the Archived Orders option.

  1. To unarchive an order on the Archived Orders page, find the order you want to restore and press the Unarchive Order button. The order will reappear on your main order history page.

Other Methods for Keeping Your Amazon Orders Hidden

The quickest way to hide an Amazon order is to archive it. However, there are a few other methods you can try that bring you closer to completely deleting your order history. These include:

  • Using an Amazon Household account. This will allow you to share some of the Prime benefits and purchased digital content with another adult and up to four children or teens in your household while keeping your own order history and payment methods separate.
  • Creating a new Amazon account. If you create a new Amazon account with a different email address and payment method, you’ll have a fresh order list that won’t show any other orders. You’ll lose access to your Prime benefits and any purchased digital content from your main account, however.
  • Deleting your Amazon account. Sounds drastic, but this method is the closest you can get to deleting your Amazon order history to stop it from being visible to others. You’ll lose everything on your existing Amazon account, however, including previous digital purchases, so you’ll need to be sure if it’s the best option for your circumstances.

Managing Your Amazon Order History

Without the ability to delete your order history from Amazon, you’ll need to use the workarounds we’ve described above to help you instead. Archiving your orders remains the best option, but if you need a more drastic solution, you can always make a new Amazon account instead.

Curious to learn more about your order history on Amazon? You can download your Amazon order history to review it in a spreadsheet. If you’ve been locked out, you can recover your Amazon account by contacting Amazon support.

Want to buy gifts through Amazon for your friends and family? You may need to find their Amazon wishlists first to start making purchases.

One thing Samsung smart TVs have in common with other TVs is that they still require a remote control. And like all TV users have found out at one time or another, it’s easy to lose your TV controller.

But if you’ve lost your Samsung TV remote, don’t worry — it’s still possible to control your Samsung TV without it. This guide will explain how to turn on a Samsung TV without a remote.

How to Turn On a Samsung TV Without Remote

There are two easy ways to turn your Samsung smart TV on: change channels and access your TV’s menus without a Samsung remote. Below, we’ll explain how to use these methods to start your TV without a controller.

1. Use the Samsung TV Control Button

According to Samsung, every single Samsung television has a TV control button that allows you to turn it on, access the TV settings, change the volume and input source, and access the Smart Hub. The only differences between Samsung TV models are where this control button is located and whether it’s a single-button or five-button arrangement.

It should be found in one of the three following locations:

  1. At the back of the TV: Check the back of your TV in the bottom-right corner. There should be a small, square section with a control stick poking out of it. Press and hold the center button (the power button) to turn on your Samsung TV without a remote. Single press the middle button again to make the settings appear on your TV screen. Then, change channels and navigate the Samsung TV menus using the control stick.
  1. Under the front panel, in the middle of the TV: Some Samsung TVs have the TV Controller button in the middle of the front bezel, along the bottom of the screen. As above, long-press the power button to turn on the TV, then use the channel and volume buttons to control the TV.
  1. Under the front panel, at the side of the TV: If there’s no physical button in the center of your TV’s front panel, it may be on the left or right-hand side. Check these locations, then control the TV as described above.

Pro tip: Look for the red light on the front bezel of your Samsung TV — this should be where your control button is located. If you can’t find the control panel, no matter how hard you look, consult the user manual; it will explain where to find it and how to use it.

2. Use the SmartThings App

Samsung provides a remote app for iPhone and Android that lets you use your mobile device as a TV remote. The only problem is that to use the SmartThings app to turn your TV on, you’ll need to have set it up previously. If you haven’t, you can still use the Samsung control button (as shown above) to connect the TV to your app for future use.

Here’s how to use the SmartThings app to turn your TV on:

  1. Open the SmartThings app and tap your TV device card.
  2. Press TV on/off.
  3. Select Content search, Remote, Apps, or Search to control your Samsung TV and access the channel you want to watch.

If you haven’t set up the SmartThings app, here’s how to do so:

  1. Download the SmartThings app. If you’re using Android, download it from the Google Play Store. If you’re using an iOS device, try the Apple App Store.
  2. Open the SmartThings app on your mobile phone.
  3. Press the + symbol, then select Add device.
  1. Select Add under Samsung device.
  1. Tap TV.
  1. Choose Start, then select the location.
  1. Tap Next.
  2. Wait for the app to connect to your Samsung TV. If your Samsung TV is from before 2020, you must use a PIN code to validate the connection.

Note: Your Samsung TV will need to be connected to your home Wi-Fi network for the SmartThings app to connect.

One Remote to Control Them All

The good thing about setting your phone up as a TV remote control is that you’ll no longer require that unholy stack of remotes. Instead, you can use your phone as a universal remote and control everything simultaneously.

However, you can always order a replacement remote if this doesn’t cut it for you!

Amazon gift cards make a great gift for that friend or family member who seems to have everything. If you’ve browsed their Amazon Wishlist but still have no idea what to buy somebody, why not let them choose their gift?

You can send a physical gift card or an eGift card via email when you buy a gift card with Amazon. However, there might be times when you’ve ordered a gift card and realized you made a mistake, you no longer need it, or you’ve sent it to the wrong address or recipient. There’s no need to worry. We’ll show you how to cancel an Amazon gift card order and get a refund.

How to Cancel Amazon Gift Card Order

Unfortunately, Amazon’s policy means that generally speaking, gift card orders can’t be refunded. If you’ve ordered a gift card you no longer want, you’re unlikely to be granted a refund. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you ordered a physical gift card and requested that it be shipped to the recipient, you may be able to cancel your order if it hasn’t yet shipped.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order

If you placed a gift card order by mistake or you’ve ordered a physical gift card and sent it to the wrong address, you might be able to cancel your order. The easiest way to see if you can do this is to go to your orders in your Amazon account. Here’s how to see if you can cancel Amazon gift cards for physical orders.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order on the Desktop Site

  1. Go to Amazon.com (or the Amazon site for your country).
  2. Log into your Amazon account.
  3. Click Your Account > Your Orders and find the gift card order.
  4. Select View or Edit Order. From here you can also view and print an Amazon receipt, if need be.
  5. If you placed the order in the last 30 minutes, you should see an option to cancel it.
  6. Select Cancel Items.
  1. You’ll be asked, “Are you sure you want to cancel this order?” so select Cancel Selected Items in This Order to continue.
  2. You should see a confirmation at the top of your screen saying “This order has been canceled,” and you should also receive email confirmation of the cancellation.

How to Cancel a Physical Gift Card Order in the Amazon App

You can also cancel your gift card order in the Amazon app, and here’s how to do that.

  1. Launch the Amazon app.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap your account icon.
  3. Tap Your Orders.
  4. Find the gift card order that you want to cancel and tap it.
  1. Select Cancel Order.
  2. Ensure the gift card is checked, then tap Cancel Selected Item. You can also select a cancellation reason from the dropdown menu, if you like.
  3. Once your order has been canceled, it should vanish from your orders list, and you should receive an email confirming the cancellation.

Unfortunately, if you don’t see the option to cancel your order, you’ll need to contact Amazon customer service by phone or chat with a customer service agent to see if your order can be canceled.

Canceling an Amazon eGift Card Order

If you have ordered an eGift card to be delivered instantly to the recipient’s email address and it has never arrived, or if you entered the wrong email address for delivery, you may not be eligible for a refund. This is entirely at the discretion of Amazon’s customer service team, so you’ll need to reach out to Amazon support to see if they can cancel and refund your order or re-send it to the correct recipient.

Contacting Customer Service in the Amazon App

To contact customer service in the app, just follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Amazon app.
  2. Tap the three stacked lines icon at the bottom right.
  3. Scroll down and tap Customer Service.
  4. Under Can I Help with Any of These, select the order you wish to contact customer service about.
  5. Select Cancel Order or any of the other options that apply (for example, Says delivered, but it’s not here.
  6. Scroll down and select I Need More Help, then tap Start Chatting Now to be connected to a customer service agent via live chat.
  7. To speak to someone over the phone, select Request Call Now, and a customer service representative will call you.

How to Contact Customer Service via the Amazon Desktop Site

If you prefer to use the Amazon desktop site to contact customer service, here’s how to do that:

  1. Navigate to Amazon.com (or the Amazon site for your country) and log into your account.
  2. Under Account & Lists, select Your Account.
  3. Scroll down and select the Customer Service tab.
  4. Under Do you need help with a recent item, select your gift card order. If you don’t see your order, select Help with a different item, then select your order.
  5. Or, you can select A delivery, order, or return further down the page under Here are some other things we can help with.
  1. Under OK, how can we help with this item, select Cancel Order, or one of the other options that apply, such as Says delivered but it’s not here.
  2. Scroll down and select I Need More Help.
  3. Select Start Chatting Now to begin a live chat with customer service, or Request Call Now for a customer service agent to call you.

As you can see, if you need to cancel your Amazon gift card and get a refund, you have a couple of options available to you. If you experience any issues canceling your order or need assistance, you can always reach out to customer service, who will hopefully be able to resolve the problem for you. The post Netflix Not Working on Roku? 8 Fixes to Try first appeared on Online Tech Tips.

]]>
If you’re in the middle of streaming the latest episode of your favorite show or trying to watch a movie on Netflix when the app stops working, it can be pretty frustrating. When Netflix won’t work on your Roku, there may be several reasons for the issue. Luckily, there are also plenty of fixes to try. Whatever the problem, we’ve got 8 fixes for Netflix not working on Roku.

1. Check if Netflix Is Down

When Netflix isn’t working on Roku, the first thing to check is whether the issue is actually with Netflix’s servers rather than at your end. You can check to see if Netflix is currently down or experiencing issues using a site like DownDetector. Here, you should also be able to see comments from others experiencing similar issues. Unfortunately, if Netflix is down, there’s not a lot you can do other than wait for it to come back up.

2. Restart Your Roku

Turning things off and on again resolves a whole host of issues, and the same rings true for Roku devices. If Netflix isn’t behaving, try restarting your Roku. The method for doing this will depend on which type of Roku device you’re using. A quick restart may resolve the problem, and you could be back viewing your favorite shows in no time.

3. Check Whether You’ve Reached Your Device Limits

Though Netflix recently cracked down on account sharing, some people may still share accounts with family members in the same household. Netflix has a limit on how many devices can stream simultaneously, depending on which plan you’re on. If you find that you’re unable to watch Netflix, it may be that you’ve reached your device limits.

If you’re on the Basic plan, you can only stream on one device at a time. On the Standard with ads and Standard plans, you can stream to two devices simultaneously, while the Premium plan allows for four devices to stream at the same time. You can check which plan you’re on by going to netflix.com/account and signing into your account.

4. Check Your Internet Connectivity

Is your Roku device connected to the internet? Often a lack of connectivity or poor signal can be to blame for issues with Netflix not working on Roku. You could check your router to ensure it’s working normally, test internet connectivity on other devices, and run a connection check on your Roku device.

To do that, press Home on your Roku remote, then scroll down and select Settings > Network > Check Connection. Your device will automatically start a connection check and let you know whether or not it has been successful. If your device isn’t connecting to the internet, you could try restarting your router to see if that resolves the connectivity issues.

5. Disable Your VPN

If your Roku is connected to the internet as normal but you’re using a VPN, that could be causing issues with Netflix. The easiest way to see if this is the problem is to disable your VPN, quit Netflix, then relaunch the app and see if the problem persists. If you can access it normally, you know your VPN is the issue. You could try connecting to another location, or just watch Netflix with your VPN disabled.

6. Check Your Netflix Account

If your Netflix payment failed for any reason, that could explain why you’re unable to access Netflix on Roku. Perhaps you recently updated your payment method and entered the details wrongly, or maybe your bank has blocked payments. Just log in to your Netflix account from your PC or mobile device and check to see if your subscription has been processed as usual, or if you need to make a payment to regain access to Netflix.

7. Uninstall and Reinstall the Netflix App

If none of the above fixes have worked for you so far, why not try uninstalling and reinstalling the Netflix app? This is a good idea in case of any conflicts or settings that are affecting the app working normally. It’s also a good idea to reset your Roku device after reinstalling the app. Hopefully, once you reinstall and launch the Netflix app, it will start working as usual.

8. Check for Updates

Though your Roku device should download and install the latest updates automatically, there may be times when this hasn’t happened. Here’s how to run a manual check to see if there are any available updates for your Roku device:

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote.
  2. Select Settings > System > Software Update.
  3. Then select Check Now, and your Roku will start a check for any available updates and download and install them, if necessary.

Hopefully, one of these fixes will sort out your Netflix not working on Roku issue and get you back up and running, so you can enjoy the latest episode of your favorite shows or that movie you’ve been waiting to watch. Watching Netflix on another type of device? Check out how to fix Netflix not working on Apple TV, or our 7 fixes for Netflix not working. If none of these fixes work for you, it’s a good time to reach out to Netflix customer support, to see if they can help resolve the problem.

You don’t have to navigate away from a web page that displays in a language other than your own. With each of the major browsers, you can use a built-in or third-party translation tool to translate text immediately.

Here, we’ll show you how to translate a web page in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Opera. For either the entire page or just a portion of it, you can read news, articles, and information in your native language or even in a language you’re learning.

Translate a Web Page in Google Chrome

The Google Chrome browser offers a built-in translation tool in the form of Google Translate, making web page translations a breeze.

  1. When you visit a web page where a translation is available, you’ll see the Translate This Page button appear in the address bar.
  1. Select the button and then your language to translate the page.
  1. For additional tools, select the Translate Options button (three dots). You can then pick another language or choose to always or never translate the language or site.

Translate Part of a Web Page in Chrome

If you only want to translate certain text on a web page, this is another option in Google Chrome.

Select the text you want to translate by dragging your cursor through it. Then, right-click and pick Translate selection to [default language].

You’ll see a small window appear with the translation along with the option to translate the full page.

Translate a Web Page in Firefox

While Mozilla Firefox doesn’t have a built-in translation tool, it does offer an official extension called Firefox Translations. Once you enable the add-on, you can use it effortlessly to translate a web page.

  1. Visit the add-ons page for Firefox Translations and select Enable.
  1. You’ll then be directed to the extension’s options page for allowing data to be sent to Mozilla. Turn on the toggles for the options you want to use and you can then close the tab.
  1. When you visit a web page that you want to translate, you’ll see a translation toolbar appear at the top. Select Translate to translate the page. Optionally, you can adjust the languages if needed or check the boxes for additional tools.
  1. You can also open the Options menu for more settings.

Translate Part of a Web Page in Firefox

Maybe you only want to translate a portion of the selected text on the web page. With the Firefox Translations extension, it’s easy.

Select the text on the page you want to translate, right-click, and pick Translate with Firefox Translations.

You’ll then see the translation in a pop-up window where you also have the option to change the language(s).

Translate a Web Page in Microsoft Edge

Like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge provides a built-in translation tool using Microsoft Translator which is similar to Google Translate.

  1. To enable the feature, select the gear icon on the bottom right to open the Settings.
  1. Choose Languages on the left of the subsequent screen and turn on the toggle for Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language I read. Note that you can add and reorder your preferred languages directly above the toggle.
  1. When you land on a web page where a translation is available, you’ll see the Show Translate Options button appear in the address bar.
  1. Change your default language if necessary and pick Translate.
  1. You can also select More to choose additional translation options.

Translate Part of a Web Page in Edge

With the built-in translator in Edge, you can also translate part of a web page.

Select the text you want to translate, right-click, and choose Translate selection to [default language].

You’ll then see that portion of the web page update, rather than a separate pop-up window, to display the translation.

Translate a Web Page in Safari

Another browser with its own translation feature is Apple’s Safari web browser.

  1. To see if a translation is available for a website you’re visiting, hover your cursor over the Translate icon in the address bar. If applicable, you’ll see “Translation Available” appear.
  1. Select the Translate icon and choose the translation language from your list of preferred options and you’ll then see the page update for you.
  1. Select the Translate button to change the languages in your list and pick Preferred Languages.
  1. Then, use the plus sign button at the bottom of the Preferred Languages list to add another or the minus sign button to remove one.

Translate Part of a Web Page in Safari

Like the browsers above, you can translate a portion of a web page in Safari as well.

Select the text, right-click, and choose Translate “[selected text].”

You’ll then see the translation in a pop-up window with options to hear the text spoken out loud or copy the translation.

Translate a Web Page in Opera

The Opera web browser doesn’t have a built-in translation tool or an official add-on. However, there are many translator extensions you can pick from with two popular options below.

Translator

Once you install the free Translator extension, you can translate an entire web page or a specific portion quickly.

To translate the current page, select the Translator button in your toolbar. In the pop-up window, optionally pick your language at the top and then use the link at the bottom for “Translate active page.”

To translate a part of the page instead, select the text with your cursor. Then, use the Translator button to view the translation in a pop-up window.

Google Translate

The Google Translate extension for Opera works similarly to the Translator option above. You can translate the whole page or just a certain part.

To translate the current page, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + P. You should then see the page translated and the translation toolbar appears at the top. Use the toolbar to choose a different language or view the original language.

To translate a portion of the page instead, select the text. Then, use the Google Translate button in the toolbar to see the translation in a pop-up window along with options to copy, listen, or change the text size.

Take Down the Language Barrier

There are plenty of terrific websites out there all over the world. Why stop visiting one because it’s in a language other than your own? Whichever browser on our list is your favorite, you have an easy way to translate a web page.

For more, look at language learning apps that can teach you to speak in a different dialect.

Is your Amazon Fire TV device stuck in a reboot loop? Does the streaming device randomly restart during usage? We’ll show you how to resolve the issue and keep your Fire TV powered on.

The troubleshooting fixes in this post apply to all Amazon Fire TV devices and models—Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Stick.

1. Power Cycle or Hard Restart Your Fire TV

Hard rebooting Fire TV devices can fix power issues and keep the streaming device running correctly. Performing a hard reboot entails physically reconnecting your Fire TV to its power source.

Unplug your Fire TV’s power adapter from the wall outlet or remove the USB cable from the Fire TV. Wait 30 seconds, reconnect the USB cable or power adapter, and turn on the power source.

2. Try a Different Power Source

Faulty power outlets can cause your Fire TV to keep restarting. Try powering the streaming device from a different wall outlet or power strip and check if it stays on. Push your Fire TV’s power adapter into the power source and ensure the connection is snug and secure.

Your power adapter or charging cable is likely faulty if the streaming device keeps restarting.

3. Use Authentic Power Accessories

All Fire TV devices ship with a USB cable and power adapter. Amazon recommends using the included accessories because they’ll power your Fire TV safely without any issues or damage.

Knockoff cables or power adapters might not power your Fire TV device. Unsupported power accessories could even do permanent damage to the streaming device.

Does your Fire TV keep restarting when using a third-party power adapter or cable? Switch to the power adapter and cable included with your Fire TV device out-of-the-box.

Additionally, power your Fire TV directly from a wall outlet or power strip, not your TV. That’s because the USB ports on most TVs don’t supply enough power to keep Fire TV devices powered on.

Loose cable connections can also cause your Fire TV to restart when turned on or during usage. Ensure the power adapter and Fire TV’s USB connection is secure and fastened.

If you lose or damage your Fire TV USB cable or power adapter, buy an Amazon-branded replacement from Amazon’s website. If you use a third-party power adapter, ensure its minimum current and voltage ratings are one ampere (1A) and five volts (5V), respectively.

Adapters with power output ratings below the recommendation (5V/1A) above won’t power your Fire TV correctly.

4. Disconnect Other HDMI Devices from Your TV

The HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature allows compatible HDMI devices in your entertainment system to control one another.

Does your Fire TV randomly restart when you enable the HDMI CEC feature? There’s a chance that other HDMI devices connected to your TV are causing interference with your Fire TV. Disabling HDMI CEC in your TV or Fire TV settings menu should fix the issue.

Unplug your Fire TV from its power outlet and disconnect all HDMI devices connected to your TV—including your Fire TV.

Reconnect your Fire TV to its power source and connect the streaming device to your TV’s HDMI port. Connect your Fire TV to a different HDMI port if it keeps restarting.

Open your Fire TV Settings, select Display & Sounds, and set “HDMI CEC Device Control” to OFF.

5. Remove Your Fire TV Remote Batteries

A malfunctioning remote controller might restart your Fire TV at random intervals. Take out the batteries in your Fire TV Remote if it’s faulty or some buttons malfunction. That’ll disconnect the remote from your Fire TV.

Buy a replacement remote from Amazon if your Fire TV no longer restarts after disconnecting the remote. You can also use the Fire TV app to control the streaming device from your Android or iOS smartphone.

6. Update Your Fire TV Device

Does your Fire TV stay on for some minutes before restarting automatically? Updating the streaming device’s software might resolve the issue. Connect your Fire TV to the internet when it comes back on, and follow the steps below to update its software.

  1. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of your Fire TV home screen and choose My Fire TV.
  1. Select About.
  1. Choose Check for Updates to prompt your Fire TV to scan for software updates.

Select Install Update to install a pre-downloaded software update.

Keep your Fire TV connected to its power source during the software update. The installation could take up to 20-30 minutes, depending on your internet speed and Fire TV model.

7. Try a Different TV

Amazon Fire TV devices only work on TVs that support High Digital Content Protection (HDCP)—an encryption technology that prevents unauthorized duplication of digital content. Connecting your Fire TV to a non-HDCP-complaint television might cause the streaming device to keep going on and off.

HDCP was introduced for HDMI connectors and devices in June 2003. The majority of TVs released in June 2003 or later are HDCP-compatible. Your Fire TV might keep restarting or fail to turn on if connected to TVs released before June 2003.

Check your TV’s instruction manual or contact the manufacturer to verify its HDCP-compliance status. Connect your Fire TV to a compatible TV if yours doesn’t support the HDCP digital copyright protection standard.

Rebooting your TV and updating its software/firmware could also fix issues causing your Fire TV to malfunction.

8. Factory Reset Your Fire TV

Resetting your Fire TV to factory default can fix performance and software issues. The factory-reset operation wipes your Fire TV and deletes all files, account data, and settings on the streaming device.

If your Fire TV stays on briefly before entering the restart loop, reset it to factory default as quickly as possible.

Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults and select Reset on the confirmation screen.

You can also initiate a factory reset using your Amazon Fire TV Remote. Press and hold the Back/Return button and Right navigation button on the remote controller for 5-10 seconds.

Release both buttons when a “Reset to Factory Defaults” screen pops up and select OK to start the factory reset.

Contact Amazon Device Support

Your Amazon Fire TV device likely has a hardware defect if it keeps restarting after trying the above fixes. Return your Fire TV to the retailer or contact Amazon Fire TV Support for technical support.

The Roku error code 014.30 is usually caused by a weak internet signal or a poorly set up device and usually appears when you try to start streaming (or during a session). If you get the 014.30 error, you won’t be able to continue streaming until you resolve any issues with your Roku’s internet connection.

Below, we’ll explain what causes this problem and how to fix the Roku error 014.30.

What Causes Roku Error 014.30?

There are two main causes for this error:

  1. A weak or non-existent wireless signal. The error will occur if your Roku device can’t connect to the internet or the Wi-Fi signal strength is too weak to stream video properly. Problems like using the wrong SSID or setting up your TV too far from your wireless network can also trigger errors.
  2. Incorrect device configuration. If you haven’t set up your Roku device, TV, or router correctly, it can cause the 014.30 error. For instance, you might have enabled MAC address filtering on your router, preventing your Roku device from accessing the internet.

How to Fix Roku Error Code 014.30

Fixing the 014.30 error code is easy. Here are four things to try, in order of how likely it is to fix the problem:

1. Check Your Internet Connection

The first thing to do is make sure that your internet is working correctly:

  1. Check if you can access the internet on another device. See if you can open a website without issues using your smartphone or PC. Suppose you can’t, then try troubleshooting your internet connection.
  2. Reboot your router and modem. Turn your router off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Check if your internet is now working correctly.
  3. Do a speed test. On another device, load up Speedtest by Ookla and ensure you get the expected internet speed. Keep in mind that you need at least 3 Mbps to stream videos.
  1. Make sure that your network password is correct. With the Roku remote, press the Home button, then choose Settings. Select Network > Setup connection > Wireless. You can also connect a Roku to the Wi-Fi without a remote if it isn’t working. Ensure the correct network name is selected, then check that the Wi-Fi password is accurate.
  1. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If nothing works, you might need to contact your ISP to find out what’s happening.

2. Power Cycle Your Roku Device and TV

Random glitches can prevent your Roku and TV from accessing the internet, whether connected through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Power cycling these devices helps by clearing the potentially corrupt DNS caches. To do so:

  1. Unplug your TV (or Roku TV) from its power source.
  2. Press and hold the Power button on your TV for 20 seconds to release any stored electricity.
  3. Plug your device back in, then turn it on.
  4. Using your Roku remote, go to Settings > System and choose System restart > Restart.
  1. Wait for it to reboot, then check if Roku works correctly.

3. Check MAC Address Filtering Settings

If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, it may be blocking your Roku from the internet. To get around this, you need to add the Roku MAC address to your router:

  1. Open your router’s administration page by entering its IP address into the search bar of your web browser. Usually, this is something like 192.168.1.1. Find the MAC address filtering settings.
  1. Here, add your Roku’s MAC address. Select Settings, then About from the Roku home screen to find it.

4. Factory Reset Your Roku Device

If nothing else has worked, your last resort is to factory reset your Roku. This will revert it to default settings, enabling you to set it up and reconnect it to the Wi-Fi network. Remember that a factory reset will remove all the data and settings you’ve added to your Roku.

  1. From the Roku main screen, select Settings > System.
  2. Choose Advanced system settings.
  3. Select Factory reset, then choose Factory reset everything. You might be asked to enter a one-time security code to confirm your decision.
  1. Press OK.
  2. Wait for the reset to finish, then reconnect your Roku to the internet. After reconnecting, check whether the Roku is working correctly.
